I am an urban and architectural designer from Syria. Born and raised in the historic city of Damascus, I've spent the first 20 years of my life there and started my architectural journey at the college of Architecture in Damascus University. I later fled the country in light of the revolution in 2012 to go to Chicago for my B.Arch at Illinois Tech and later to New York for my Masters in Urban Design at Columbia University.
I am a proud son of two architects, Rand Abdulsamad and Randa Bahit, the founders of Interior Design architecture in Syria. A family practice that is an extension to my grandfather's real estate development and architecture work in my hometown of Homs, nearly five decades ago.
You are still reading then you are definitely interested in knowing more, so let me share some of my career goals in here. I dream of a day where I could employ whatever knowledge I have gained during my studies in both the Architectural and the Urban Design fields to be part of the post-war reconstruction phase in Syria.
Actively Helping Refugees
The college of Architecture at Illinois Tech shared my post on the Refugee crisis and how to be active in contributing to this global challenge.
